80th Birthday Auctioneer/Favorite Carnival Food Cake

This cake was designed for my Dad,  who turned 80 this weekend.  He was an Auctioneer & Realtor in the Tampa Bay area. He was owner and operator of AAA Quick-Way Service, 3 miles north of Gibsonton on Hwy 41. His auction company was a true auction, everything  sold to the  highest bidder.  How he and all of us miss those interesting auctions every friday night, never knowing what would be sold from friday to friday. Wondering who would come to see the auctions or whose items we may be selling.  He sold for Dusty Rhodes the wrestler, Mr. Berns, the orginal owner from Berns Steak House in Tampa  would come to buy Restaurant Equipment, to the The Giant from the Giants Camp in Gibsonton.  He would come with his extreme large chair, retired &  selling rings that would only fit the giant.  Always so interesting, and how my dad could tell so many stories of the years of being in this business & the people who he met.     On his letterhead back before internet existed it  said to call or write.  How a few years can change so many things.

He loves chili dogs, popcorn, carmel apples, well will just say he loves carnival food.  So with this inspiration of his Auction business and his love of carnival food, we put this together.  A cake with the bidder number on the top representing his age 80, his business card on the 1st tier with a chili dog, all made out of fondant and gumpaste.  Bottom layer was a real caramel apple and popcorn in popcorn box made out of fondant. Also put a copy of his letterhead on cake board to remember the days he so enjoyed.

The cake flavors were Raspberry Limeade Cake and Chocolate Cake with Samoa Caramel Coconut filling, covered in chocolate ganache and then fondant.

We had a lot of fun celebrating his birthday with all his family and friends.  Thank you all for coming to celebrate with us.

Happy Birthday Dad, Grandpa and  Col. Neil Hoopingarner to some!

Twiddle Dee and Twiddle Dum

This cake was designed for Sydney for her 16th birthday.  She is in ballet and will be performing as Twiddle Dee in New York!  Sydney drew a picture of a design that she would want for her cake.  She did an awesome job on the art work.  Because of the short notice we didnt have time for Twiddle Dee and Dum to be standing so we created them sitting down position.  Great Work Sydney and Good Luck in your performance in New York as Twiddle Dee.  Happy Birthday!

Teal Hearts & Sparkling Bling Wedding Cake w/ Firefighter & Bride Topper
